I want to thank you for the great job you did on my case, I know it was a tough one. Due to the fact of the amount of drugs I had on me, but I was not selling to anyone, it was for my personal use only. I am very grateful for all your hard work on the case, and I promise you it won't happen again. I have learned my lesson, it was an expensive one at that.
I have already been to the Probation Dept. here and tomorrow I go to my Drug Rehab. I am getting that taken care of right away. I have also contacted the Salvation Army and start my community service next Tuesday, I plan on doing the 32 hours next week and that will be taken care of also. When all is taken care of I will contact you so we can go back to court and try to get my probation dropped. I don't know if that is the right way to word it, but you know what I mean, I hope you do anyhow.
The probation department here said I would have to go 2-3 times a week for three months, and then it would be once a week for nine months, a year total. I can handle that I know for sure.
Again, Thank You Very Much Mr. Rooney. I really do appreciate all of your hard work. I am especially grateful that you thought I was telling the truth about everything, and also knowing that you thought I didn't deserve to go to jail made me feel real good.

From Chico we sent out 125 packages, that weighed a total of 1057 pounds! And, that's counting what was sent from folks in Redding, CA, Oregon and Mississippi or the 10 extra boxes we still have to ship to the Chaplain in Iraq. The Lord is amazing.

Just wanted to send a belated, short note of thanks for the attorney services provided by Mr. Rooney and your law offices. I should really be sending three letters of commendation for Michael Rooney-for the pre-file, lower court, and upper court retention.
The case was a pre-file in Calaveras County. Mr. Rooney availability to me was great. Each time I had a question or requested a meeting, he was able to take my calls immediately or schedule an office visit. One time he drove to meet me at a restaurant, in my area, on a weekend! Such efforts deserve special thanks.
Although the case was filed against me in Calaveras, I continued to retain your firm again because of my faith in Mr. Rooney. I wanted to take this time to thank you for your assistance in resolving my court case in Plumas County. I am very grateful that even though I had a possibly serious offense against me, you were able to get a summary probation which, in the long run, will totally drop off my record. That was very important to me as I have always tried to live an honest and law abiding life. Up to this point, I felt I had.
I was however very disappointed to know that here seemed to be absolutely zero tolerance for someone who had never been in any kind of trouble before. And the fact that the mistakes I made were because of my not being aware of the entire California penal code. I guess I need to get a copy of the California Penal code and read it cover to cover so I won't make any more mistakes. It seems very sad to me that a serious offender can bargain to get a reduced sentence, but someone who makes an honest mistake out of ignorance, seems to get the shaft.
I know there was not much you could have done with the way the current system is set up. It still does not seem right or even moral. The fact that I believe, in the same way that as you had indicated to me, that my Beretta will not actually be destroyed, really irks me! I used to totally support law enforcement, but not any longer. They push the fact that we have to obey every whit of the written laws, but when it comes to their advantage, like getting a really nice gun for free, and then they can choose to break the same laws that were used against me! How is that honest or moral?
It seems to me that being a law enforcement officer just gives them the right to choose which laws they themselves wish to keep. That's not a power they should be entitled to. Please excuse my ranting; it just really gets under my skin.
Again, I am very grateful for the part you played and I know you did your best.

I'm continuing my therapy; I see a psychologist as well as my psychiatrist, so hopefully I will never be in this position again.

I'm sorry (again) that it's taken so long to mail this. I'm working with Visiting Nurse Hospice, working in the field 12-14 hours, then charting at home another 3-4 hours, plus only working on salary 8 hours a day.
I'd never have believed I'd work those hours for so little pay, but I actually love the field work.
I talked to a lady in your office and told her Indiana Attorney General is starting procedures against my Indiana license now. I guess California informed them. But I will be sure to finish paying you before I lose my job.
I don't know what I'll do, but I'm sure I'll lose my license and my job. I only wish I'd had the intelligence to stay away from the "psycho" sister.
She began drinking and abusing drugs even more. When my youngest sister was dying in the hospital, the other one actually attacked me. I had to leave the hospital for my mother's sake, and my sister died that night.
Sorry, I know you don't need a "yearly Christmas update" from me. I actually just wanted to assure you I'm going to pay my account off - hopefully in 2-3 weeks.

Ok, I'm even later-I know you must think I'm making all this up, but before I could get to the post office, we had to admit my 15 year old granddaughter to the hospital. She had a pilonidal cyst that the Emergency Room and her family MD misdiagnosed. By the time my daughter called me, my grand-daughter was septic. She was in the hospital a week on IV antibiotics and morphine. I'm really ready for the stress to decrease! Don't think it's going to happen though.
I want to thank everyone who worked hard on my case, especially Brandon and Robert. They both took the time to listen to me and my concerns. I was facing the loss of a lot of really important things and people in my life. I knew in my heart that what the police and sheriffs did was wrong and illegal and that you would win the case. I am very thankful to continue to have my family and my job. I have gained an immense amount of knowledge of the legal system and what it's like to be treated like a criminal, which I am not. Thank you so much for getting my case dismissed! My family and I are extremely pleased with the results you obtained. I cannot even begin to express my gratitude. Through your personal efforts, and those of your staff, I have been given the chance to spend my adult life in society as opposed to prison.
I was arrested at age seventeen for Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon. The District Attorney added both the Intent to Cause Great Bodily Injury, and Hate Crime enhancements to the charge. I was facing up to ten years in prison!
I had become so distraught with my situation; I nearly accepted the District Attorney's offer to spend seven years in State Prison with and 85% time commitment. My first opportunity to be released would have been in 2015 at age twenty-four.
After turning eighteen in Juvenile Hall, I was moved into the general population at the Butte County Jail. The judge refused to release me on my own recognizance or reduce my bail, and my family was unable to post the required bond. I spent over ten months incarcerated for a crime that I did not commit.
Following the jury trial, seven days later in fact, all charges against me were dismissed. Your diligent investigation, research of the law, argument at trial, and dedication to my freedom quite literally saved me from the hell of prison. I can never thank you enough.
I hope that I never need your services again, but if I do, I know that I can depend on your firm to protect my rights. I would never hesitate to recommend you to anybody in need of legal assistance.

I've been trying to think of how to write this so you would truly know how much I appreciate what you did for me. I don't believe there is a way - How does one thank someone that just saved your life. Well - to start with - Thank you - Thank you so very much.
Your office and you were wonderful! I never felt I was being out down or judged badly. I felt so brave with you at my side - I honestly cannot say what would have happened to me without you. I was feeling pretty desperate until you got me out of the hole I put myself in!

I have continued with the AA meetings - I've been accepted into the ESP program to serve my "time" and am working on a SWAP with the Jesus Center - perhaps 300 individual pumpkin pies are worth 150 hours? Or not? I will work it out somehow. I'm so grateful to be able to work on this rather than what I would have been doing. I also have continued with group at mental health and have started with our student assistant additional self-improvement sessions.
